Yet Another Reason to Hate Best Buy

Man is arrested for using $2 bills at Best Buy

$2 bills are legal tender. They are uncommon, but they are legal. Personally, if I was him, I wouldn't have used $2 bills. I would have used nickels and dimes to stage the protest.

Best Buy is called Best Lies in my household. They once asked me if I wanted to purchase an exended warranty on a $10 mouse. I nearly decked the checkout person for even daring to ask. The fact that the slam you for the worthless extended warranty on every &%$#@ thing you buy (see why BB posts profits almost every quarter) is only my second beef with them. The big thing now is I subscribed to their Rewards program on 1/1/05. I have accumulated enough points since then to get a measly $70 back. Even though I have called twice to complain, followed their advice to change my email twice to receive them electronically and on 4/26 took their advice to change again and receive the certificates by mail. As of today. NOTHING! They should call their company Best S***!

I agree with some of the tactics that Best Buy does pull with it customers. However, Best Buy did not ask you to shop at their store. If you shop at Best Buy, or any other retailer or market, you will be bound to the questions and offerings that they have. Best Buy does have the right to offer them to you. As for the "I nearly decked the checkout person for even daring to ask..." statement, if you were in my store, you would have kindly asked to leave and never shop with us again. We may be retail employees, but it is our job to ensure that all customers are aware of the benefits Best Buy does offer before that customer leaves, there by reducing the rejection 4 months down the road because your product doesn't work. We sell the products; we do not make them. If there is an issue with it, contact the manufacturer. The additional service and replacement plans allow us to help customers in the store, instead of telling them that it is a manufacturers defect; you will have to contact the manufacturer. Grant it, a PRP on a $10 mouse is uncalled for. What gets me the most, is that customers who complain and tell us that they will never shop at Best Buy again, at in the store the next week picking up items. About 95% of all customers we deal with that have issues, just like to b*%ch. The other 5% are legitimate and we are glad to go the extra mile to help.
