Cingular = Bad

| 6 Comments

This past week, wherever I go, my cell phone has zero bars. In my apartment I used to get 5 bars... now I get 0. At work I used to get 2 bars, now I get 0. Mountain View I used to get 0 bars, and now I get 0. Whether this is because of Cingular or AT&T Wireless, I don't really care, but is there anywhere in the world that I can receive a Cingular signal?

Should I switch to Verizon or T-Mobile?

Update: Phone fixed, have full reception again.

Well, first things first - have you asked Cingular about this? It's possible there's some problem with your cell phone, and how it registers/etc.

Barring that, don't get T-mobile. If it's a coverage problem, they're going to have mostly the same ones... same towers, just better tech at each POP, is my understanding.

I, myself, just switched from Cingular to Sprint. So far, the coverage has been much better than Cingular. YMMV.

actually, mike.... mine improved today i think. i get four bars in my apartment now.

actually...mine got better today. i get four bars in my apartment. maybe they were working with wiring or something between cingular and at&t

I'm pretty much convinced that my cellphone antenna is dead... it's 0 bars everywhere.

i actually really like tmobile. i've had it for three years now, and it gets reception in a lot of places where sprint doesn't. i've never used the cingular network, so i don't know how it compares but it's a really good service. for a while, they had 1000 minutes for 39.99, free weekend and nights, too.

Happy to hear you had it fixed. =)
