In which the rest of the entries are revealed, including more from Record of the Lodoss War, Star Wars, Sesame Street and Green Lantern.
Contestant 21: Queen of Hearts

IMG_8899.jpg

This is likely from some Alice in Wonderland variant, but not having seen the source material, I don't know how real world accurate this is.

Contestant 22: Green Lantern and Jade

IMG_8919.jpg

These two costumes were pretty fantastic, though the look of the costume looked very airbrushed, both close up and far away. They didn't really have a skit; just lots of heroic posing.

Contestant 23: Star Wars Disco

IMG_8944.jpg

These three gals just sort of posed and clashed with lightsabers while the disco Mix of Star Wars played in the background. Someone in a Yoda mask sat onstage and waved a lightsaber around. This one just went on way too long.

Contestant 24: She-Ra and Friends

IMG_8969.jpg

Going for the nostalgia vote, these four big-boned-women dressed up as She-Ra and friends, and had a skit that involved a clothesline of underwear and some dancing. These four women are obviously very comfortable going out in public wearing these costumes and displaying their bodies in front of a large audience; but if you're going to the trouble of recreating the costumes and buying the wigs to get right hair color, couldn't She-Ra have gotten some contact lenses at least?

Contestant 25: Pirates of the Caribbean

IMG_9013.jpg

Jack Sparrow duels with Horatio Hornblower. Very good, very entertaining, excellent fight choreography. One of the redcoats get taken down early, so he doesn't need to participate in the duel.

Contestant 26: Record of the Lodoss War

IMG_9051.jpg

In this one, Deedlit and Pirotess dance to the Japanese theme song for Record of the Lodoss Wars. Their costumes are simple, yet elegant and beautiful. Their dancing wasn't perfectly timed, but nice costumes nevertheless. They credit Ryo Mizuno for the costume design, indicating that this is likely taken from his artwork on the series.

Contestant 27: The Yip-Yips

IMG_9079.jpg

This pair's costume is inspired from the Sesame Street Yip Yips, alien visitors who are exploring the earth. These two have the character full on, and their performance definitely showcased that.

Contestant 28: Fuu

IMG_9085.jpg

This costume from Samurai Champloo is pretty well done, though I did wonder what happened to her other slipper.

Contestant 29: The Creature from the Black Lagoon

IMG_9104.jpg

This thing was impressive, though I found him disturbingly cute.

Contestant 30: Woman in Loincloth

IMG_9109.jpg

This is another of those costumes that I don't know where it's from, but it could just be any generic fantasy Boris Vallejo art-inspired paintings. I find the choice of fabric somewhat odd; glittery clothes were probably not the norm for fantasy maidens.

Contestant 31: Knight

This guy belongs more at a Ren Faire than at WonderCon, he worked hard on his costume, but the shirt, like the Woman in Loincloth is too glittery, and I can see the military camo pants under the tabard. An actual armorer was on the judging panel, so I'm sure he got dinged points for his realism.
